McKinney is the second largest suburb in Collin County after Plano and is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas. It has more than doubled in population in the last 10 years. Before becoming a suburb McKinney was a small city too far to be part of metro Dallas. The older section of McKinney has a concentration of working class African Americans. However many middle and upper-middle class Blacks have moved into the newer section of the city. They are more spread out.
