Cedar Hill

Overlooking Lake Joe Pool and Cedar Hill State Park, the city of Cedar Hill offers it's residents "hill country" scenery and hometown character only minutes away from big city activities. The black population in Cedar Hill surged 279.9% between 1990 and 2000. Today African Americans make up almost half of the population and are responsible for most of the city's growth over the last decade.

Since 2000 Cedar Hill has added a whopping 3 million square feet of retail space and is now the center of shopping and dining activity in southern Dallas county. The city has recently been a hit with national retailers that are typical in the northern suburbs such as Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Dicks Sporting Goods, Dillards, JC Penney, Khols, Best Buy, Pier One, etc. Dining is also plentiful with several new sought after restaurants such as Joe's Crab Shack, Salt Grass Steak House, Macaroni Grill, Razzoo’s, etc.

Like DeSoto, Cedar Hill offers a verity of mid to upscale housing choices which are more affordable than most places in the DFW area. Everything from small family starter homes to Large Mansions overlooking the lake are available in Cedar Hill. With plenty of land available Cedar Hill's population is expected to reach 78,000 in the next 20 years.
